It was the best of times, and definitely not the worst of times: we can't help but look back on all of those inspiring runway beauty looks of 2015 with a smile! So before we completely commit these gorgeous and glamorous trends to the past, we had to take a final look at some of our favorite makeup looks of the year- take a look below!
2015: The year in 5 runway makeup looks
Negative space eyeliner
As one of the most modern and audacious beauty looks of the year, we absolutely love the futuristic feeling behind the negative space eyeliner trend. Check out it's stunning appearance at the Mugler show during Paris Fashion Week, and give it a go yourself with our quick and easy guide!
New York, London and Milan were all struck with a very similar metallic eyeshadow theme throughout the September run of Fashion Weeks, and it seems to have become one of the hottest winter makeup trends of 2015! We especially loved this bronzed look from the Alberta Ferretti Spring-Summer 2016 show, with the bright champagne powder around the inner corners of the eyes contrasting against the warm bronze dusted across the lids.
Another daring makeup look from this year, the two-tone lipstick trend has taken the Toronto runway by storm even if it hasn't made its way onto the red carpet just yet! Be careful not to make your upper lip too dark or you might make your lips look small, but balance it just right and you have a beautiful wintery pout, easy!
Smoky cat eye
What happens when you combine two classic makeup looks - the smoky eye and the cat eye effect - into one gorgeous look? A little bit of makeup heaven, that's what! This gorgeous effect graced the runway for the Elie Saab Autumn/Winter 2015-16 show earlier this year, and we had to bag it as one of our most winter-appropriate favorites.
Going for gold
And finally, we really couldn't sign off this list without a glance back to the Elie Saab collection at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in July, when the stunning models stepped out in ethereal fairytale-esque gowns and smouldering in molten gold eyeshadow! Team with a natural lipstick shade to really make that gold take center stage.
Bring on your best beauty looks, 2016, we're ready!
