2016 Critics' Choice Awards: best red carpet looks

Thanks to award season, each new year begins with a flurry of red carpet events, each more glamorous than the one before it! Following the People's Choice and Golden Globe Awards, the 2016 Annual Critics' Choice Awards took place last Sunday, January 17, in Santa Monica, California.

Best Dressed

After the Critics' Association recognizes their favorite cinematic achievements of the year, we at Get the Look like to acknowledge the amazing ensembles seen on the event's red carpet! Here are some of our favorite looks from the night...

Dark & Mysterious

2016 isn't ready to shake off last year's Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala, a nice burgundy shade. The proof lies in the looks of Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter's sparkling low-cut Zuhair Murad gown, and Spotlight star Rachel McAdams dazzling gold-accented Elie Saab dress. There was also no shortage of LBDs: both Rosie Huntington Whitely and Emmy Rossum exuded classic elegance in their choices. Finally, Liv Tyler showcased her new baby bump in a figure-hugging navy number.

Pastel Princesses

Then there were those inspired by Pantone's latest color obsession: pastels! Jennifer Aniston in Saint Laurent, Saoirse Ronan in Antonio Berardi, and Kate Beckinsale in Monique Lhullier were just some of the romantic ice blue dresses we spotted at the event! Fargo actress Kirsten Dunst opted for an equally ethereal tiered silver number by Karl Lagerfeld.

Shiri Appleby and Carly Chaikin looked great in earthy amber tones by Leanne Marshall and Chloe respectively. Finally, Alicia Vikander stunned in a fitted, heavily embellished dress by Mary Katrantzou.

Can't wait to see what these fabulous stars will do next!
