2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards: best dressed!

Last Saturday, January 30, saw the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards take place in Los Angeles, bringing some of Hollywood's biggest stars to the red carpet just one month before the Oscars!

The stars of the evening were Leonardo DiCaprio, who took home the Best Lead Actor award for his role in Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant, and Brie Larson, who won the Lead Actress award for her work in Irish-Canadian film Room. In addition, Spotlight won the Best Ensemble in a Film honour.

Just as SAG Awards winners can give a good indicator of who will triumph at the Oscars, so can the ceremony's red carpet! Let's take a closer look at the evening's best dressed...

Flower Power

Rachel McAdams went for classic glamour in a black vintage-inspired dress with beaded floral embellishments by Elie Saab. Meanwhile, Kiernan Shipka went with a modern strapless floral dress by Erdem in eggplant purple and icy blue! Saoirse Ronan opted for a bubblegum pink gown by Michael Kors with a very subtle all-over flower print. Finally, L'Oréal Paris ambassador Naomi Watts dazzled in a royal blue dress by Burberry with flowers made from feathers!

50 shades of Green

Well, just three. L'Oréal Paris spokesperson Eva Longoria wore a skin-tight army green dress by Julien Macdonald that boasted a plunging neckline and open back. Fellow ambassador Julianne Moore opted or a suprising pistachio green sequined gown by Givenchy for a fresh burst of red carpet color. Marisa Tomei kept things classic with an emerald green bead-embellished gown by Zuhair Murad.

Wildcards

Other notable mentions go to Susan Sarandon for giving the classic tuxedo some major sex appeal in Max Mara, Kate and Rooney Mara for looking absolutely effortless in coordinated Valentino dresses, and Alicia Vikander who tuned heads in a sparkling Louis Vuitton outfit once again!
