2017 Golden Globe Trend

2017 Golden Globe Trend: Platinum blonde takes over the red carpet

by Paige Exell -

For red carpet events like the 74th Annual Golden Globes, fashion, beauty and hairstyle trends are pulled from the runway and re-created on some of our favourite celebrities. At Sunday's award show, sparkling gowns, plunging necklines, bold lips and smoky shadow stood out, inspiring us to try the looks on ourselves. And while many starlets took on these trends, a few preferred to stand out and show off their originality. Among those were Michelle Williams and Evan Rachel Wood, who donned platinum blonde locks, an uncommon shade during the winter season, for their Golden Globe looks.

Edgy, feminine and trendy, platinum blonde attracts those who are in search of a daring new look. Would you like to express the fashionista inside of you and adopt this stylish hair trend? Read on to learn more about the hair colours on these two Hollywood beauties!

MICHELLE WILLIAMS AND EVAN RACHEL WOOD: PLATINUM BLONDE LOCKS, TWO WAYS

MICHELLE'S GOLD PLATINUM BLONDE

Michelle William's is proof that once you go blonde, you'll never go back! On Sunday's Golden Globe red carpet, the actress styled her platinum blonde pixie cut by sweeping it over to one side of her head for a smooth, silky look. To add femininity to her look, she wore a Louis Vuitton powder blue gown that she accessorized with a black ribbon around her neck for a more romantic take on the season's choker trend.

Michelle's ultra light shade of blonde contains gold undertones and looks great on women with light eyes, dark eyes and darker brows. It looks super edgy when worn next to a porcelain complexion like Michelle's.

EVAN RACHEL'S GREY PLATINUM BLONDE

Since the 74th Annual Golden Globes aired on Sunday night, the Westworld actress has been the talk of major fashion and beauty blogs. Evan Rachel Wood was one of the few female celebs to walk the red carpet in a two-piece suit rather than a typical gown, yet her masculine look was equally glam. The perfect addition to this edgy ensemble? A platinum blonde 'do with grey undertones and visibly dark roots.

Would you like to try a new look without undergoing too radical a transformation? Be bold and try out Evan Rachel Wood's ashy blonde hair colour.

HOW TO ADOPT AND MAINTAIN PLATINUM BLONDE

If Michelle and Evan's Golden Globe looks have convinced you to take the first steps towards going platinum, L'Oreal Paris is helping you adopt the look with Feria Absolute Platinum. The three shades of ultra-light blonde in the collection will allow you to achieve the colour of your dreams!

Bonus tips: Intense discolouration that results when attempting to achieve a platinum blonde colour can cause the hair to weaken. Before and after changing up your look, hydrate your hair with oils, protein-enriched hair care products and heat protective sprays. Then, once you've achieved your desired colour, get rid of any brassy tones with Everpure's Brass Banisher shampoo and conditioning treatment.

Do you prefer Michelle or Evan's shade of blonde? Vote on your favourite!
