3 ways to wear this season's glitter trend like a grown up

by Paige Exell -

Bored of the same old makeup trends? If so, you'll be excited to hear that glitter is back (and in many forms). From dense sparkles atop eyelids at Creatures of the Wind, glued-on glitter slightly above the eyelid at Giambattista Valli, and sparkle-coated lips (yes, lips) at Prada, this season proved that glitter is not only appropriate to wear on your face, but it is now appropriate to wear just about anywhere. So, how does a grown adult bring back this quintessential childhood trend? We've put together 3 ways to wear glitter like a grown up this season.

IN YOUR HAIR

While glitter has been popping up on the spring-summer 2016 catwalks, celebrities like Miley Cyrus have been experimenting with their own variations of the trend for some time now. Miley rocked blue glitter roots to last year's Met Gala, providing us with the inspiration and courage to try it for ourselves. Use a coloured glitter to coat the roots of your hair, giving pixie dust a subtle, yet edgy treatment that will add a some light (literally) to your day!

ON YOUR NAILS

If you prefer a subtler approach to this sparkly trend, use a glitter polish to add a sporadic twinkle to your nails, or get creative by adding a gold halo along the cuticle of a coloured nail – like at Malorie Urbanovitch's Toronto Fashion Week show, for a noteworthy manicure.

ON YOUR EYES

Use a shimmery eye shadow or liner to coat the lids and upper lash line of the eye for a more classic approach to this seasons glitter trend. If you're feeling a little daring, you can even apply the glitter underneath your eyes at the lower lash line for a night-out appropriate look.
