We've all been there. You wake up at the crack of dawn to begin your morning with an extensive beauty routine only to realize that you probably didn't get as much sleep as you should have the night before. You may not have gotten those recommend eight hours, but here's the thing: nobody has to know! With the right prep, products and a little help from your favourite lip-gloss, hours of sleep can be added to your face without having to hit the pillow!

Late night? Check out our tips for looking well-rested when you're totally sleep deprived.

PREP YOUR SKIN

The first step to looking alert when you're anything but, is to prep your skin. Skip the heavy foundation and use a creamy liquid primer that will blend seamlessly into your skin and boost its liveliness without all that extra product. The best part? Primer will create a supple, dewy glow counteracting sleep-deprived skin and keep you looking youthful no matter how many hours you lost.

BRIGHTEN-UP YOUR UNDER EYES

The under eye area is generally the part of your face that pays the biggest price for late nights spent binge watching your favourite show on Netflix. The key then, is to target the visual culprit of sleep deprivation, and apply a liquid highlighter in a triangular shape below the eye that extends to the cheekbones. If you prefer concealer, apply a liquid formula that's a few shades lighter than your skin tone to brighten up your eyes in preparation to brave the day ahead.

PLAY UP YOUR EYES

The trick to making your eyes look brighter is to line your upper lids with a navy blue liner. This makeup hack makes the whites of your eyes look brighter, thereby making you look you've already had your morning coffee. On your lower lash line, go for a white liner to hide inner rim redness and make the eyes pop!

SWIPE ON SOME LIP GLOSS

If you've had a late night and you wind up sleep-deprived, it's likely that your lips, like the rest of your face, will be dehydrated as well. Use a shiny, moisturizing lip balm with a hint of colour to brighten up your face. It's quicker than meticulously applying liner and lipstick!

ADD BLUSH

Like gloss, a soft pink blush will warm up your face and add colour to your worn out look. Applying blush on the center of the cheeks with a small dose on the tip of your nose breathes life into your entire face. Voila! You have tricked people into believing you are a well-rested soul. Don't forget the coffee!
