Love that youthful-looking dewy complexion that seems to be genetic to top models? It's not an easy finish to achieve, and often ends up looking more like you've been caught in the rain than working a sunny runway glow. If this sounds familiar, don't give up, we've tracked down some top tips for perfecting a dewy base to your makeup...
Fully hydrated skin
You're not going to achieve that youthful-looking glow unless your skin is well looked after and moisturized. This means drinking lots of water, and treating your skin to an occasional hydrating mask. Dry skin will simply soak up the moisture and remain dull-looking.
The perfect base
Post moisturizer, use a makeup perfector or primer to set your base. Ideally, choose one with light-reflecting qualities. A sheer liquid foundation over the top will give your skin subtle luminosity, just make sure you apply it correctly with a sponge or foundation brush.
For the dewy glow itself, use a highlighter on the areas of the face most exposed to light. This is usually down the bridge of your nose, across the forehead and just under the eyes, following the line of the cheekbone.
A cream-based blush won't undo the effect of the highlighter, unlike a powder. Use the tip of a clean finger to gently blend the blush on the apples of your cheeks, up towards your temple.
Wear it with: A bold brow and rose-tinted lips look great with a dewy makeup base. Less is more with this natural-looking finish!
