It seems as though a trend has arisen from the Cannes Film Festival red carpet: glorious shades of sunny yellow. And although celebs may try their best to stay original when choosing the perfect red carpet gown, some things (like similar colours), will inevitably appear next to one another from time to time.
Amal Clooney stunned in a dreamy yellow gown that look flawless against her dark hair and skin tone, but she wasn't the only star to bring the lighthearted shade to the red carpet this year. Her opponent? Anna Kendrick, who opted for a body-con saffron yellow gown for Day 1 of the festival.
ANNA KENDRICK'S SAFFRON YELLOW GOWN
Anna Kendrick started Day 1 of the Cannes Film Festival off right by attending the premiere of Café Society with arm candy, Justin Timberlake. As if the actress hadn't garnered enough attention with Justin on her arm, Kendrick opted for a saffron yellow gown that caught the eyes of everyone around her.
The bubbly brunette made a lasting first impression in her saffron Stella McCartney gown, as the colour complimented her translucent skin tone and chestnut brown hair. Not to mention, its form-fitting shape flattered her slender silhouette.
AMAL CLOONEY'S PALE YELLOW GOWN
Anna Kendrick may have kicked off the yellow trend on Day 1, but Amal Clooney made for some tough competition in the days that followed.
For the Day 2 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Money Monsters, Amal Clooney accompanied her husband George wearing a beautiful asymmetrical yellow gown that emphasized her slender waist and showed off her long, enviable legs. Amal stayed true to her bright summer-appropriate look, pairing her pale yellow gown with coral earrings and matching coral lipstick.
