Amber Heard's romantic Cannes 2014 faux-undercut hairstyle

Last night, May 20, we spotted actress Amber Heard at the premiere of Deux Jours, Une Nuit during the 67th Annual Cannes Film Festival. Heard looked beautiful in a white and gold Vionnet gown with a bold red lip and romantic faux-undercut hairstyle.

The braided faux-undercut is a style we've seen plenty of times before, most notably on Kristen Stewart who has really championed the style over the last year by wearing it to plenty of events. However, where Stewart's version of the look is edgy and deliberately unkempt, Heard's was soft, delicately tousled and dreamy.

With a real soft spot for romantic hairstyles, Heard's became an instant Cannes 2014 favorite in the Get the Look office so, naturally, we had to create a tutorial to get the look at home. Here's how...

Get the Look

Step one: Start by distributing a curl-enhancing cream throughout towel-dried (slightly damp) hair and then spritz heat protection spray all over.

Step two: Blow dry your hair, using a brush to push the hair up at the root to create volume before moving down toward the ends.

Step three: Section the hair off into two sections- top and bottom. Starting with the bottom section first, use a large barrel curling iron to create curls. Move onto the top section. Once you're finished and the hair is cool to the touch, run your fingers through the curls to loosen them up.

Step four: Spray sea salt spray throughout your hair to give it a slightly mussed look. Then, create a deep side part and continue the part down the back of your head. Use clips to keep the larger section of hair separated.

Step five: Use the smaller section of hair to create a French braid that continues down to the back bottom hairline. Then, continue braiding the hair like normal until you reach the ends and secure it with a hair tie.

Step six: Remove any clips from your hair and then spray it all over with hairspray to keep the style in place.

There you have it- fairytale hair straight from the red carpet!
