2013 was a good year, and 2014 looks set to be even better for Ashlee Simpson, who just announced her engagement to boyfriend Evan Ross. Congratulations! To celebrate Ashlee's news, we took a look back at 2013, and noticed how she's actually quite a hairstyle inspiration.
So, if you've got long blonde hair, and are looking for some ideas about how to add variety to your styling, look no further, Ashlee has the answers!
This glamorous look is a showstopper. Starting with a side part , sweep your hair over and in front of your shoulder. You'll need plenty of volumizing mousse (after washing), curling irons, and a comb to tease volume from the mid-section. Use a strong spray or invisible gel to control the opposite side.
Waves don't have to be undisciplined. Apply heat-protecting serum then use a large-barrelled curling iron on medium-sized sections of the hair (only for a very short period of time). If you're not sure, have a look at the ends of Ashlee's hair. You can see the size of the sections she's curled. Do not comb through the waves.
Red carpet beach hair
Messy beach hair isn't just for the holidays. To get this style, follow the above instructions, but finish by using a comb to backcomb the middle sections of the hair. Apply hairspray then scrunch hair lightly in the palm of your hand.
Messy but chic updo
After curling, lightly backcomb at the roots for volume, then tie hair back in a loose ponytail, keeping two sections free at the front. Use a tail comb to tease loose small sections at the top of your head, then use your fingers to massage the scalp lightly for more volume and a natural look.
Bird's nest topknot
With the ends wrapped across the front and tucked under the base, this topknot is easy to create. Just make sure not to use heavy, glossy products, or you won't achieve the messy aspect.
Which is your favorite hairstyle? Think she'll use one of these for her big day?
