Ashley Tisdale had a color palette in mind when she chose her look for the TCA Summer Press Tour - dressing head to toe (literally) in black and white, except for a cute orange miniskirt.
While Ashley's outfit looked great, it was her nail art that really grabbed our attention: she'd chosen to focus on the tips of both her fingers and toes, giving herself an edgy French manicure in white and black!
We saw this look on the runway in September last year, so it's not a surprise that the trend has now filtered down to celebrity level. That means we can try it out too, right?
Get the Look: these edgy black tips don't require a complicated tutorial, just some nail tape, a transparent base coat, and - of course - black polish. Once your base coat has dried, apply the nail tape, leaving the tip of your nail exposed (cut the tape into a curve that follows your nail shape) and paint the black over the tip. Don't worry if some polish goes on the tape - that's what it's there for! When almost dry, gently remove the tape, and voilà!
Your finger and toe nails don't have to match, but it does show extra effort if they coordinate! Ashley shows her quirky side with these contrasting white tips, which also help to show off those monochrome strappy sandals.
Get the look: we're talking toes, not fingers, so you don't have to worry quite so much about absolute pedicure perfection. Apply a base coat as before, then simply paint a line of matte white polish along the tip of your toenails. Finish with a top coat, because any nail art on your toes will be particularly prone to chipping.
