In the run up to Halloween, we will obviously be rolling out those dark, sultry and wild makeup looks to give you ample costume and party inspiration to choose from, so get your makeup palettes at the ready! To start us off gently, however, we are turning today to the stunning ethereal beauty of Canadian model Coco Rocha, who attended the Balmain X H&M launch show yesterday, October 20, with this gorgeous, smoky beauty look.
Get the look
This daytime, grungy eyeshadow palette may not be scary, but it sure is bewitching! Have you fallen under its spell too? Well give this little bit of makeup magic a go for yourself by checking out our breakdown below....
The clear complexion
The best contrast to any type of smoky eye makeup is always a clear, flawless complexion like Coco's. Smooth an illuminating primer over your clean, freshly moisturized skin and allow for the formula to absorb into your pores for the best, even complexion.
Next mix a touch of liquid illuminator with a BB cream on the back on your hand, and apply to your face in small circles with a clean foundation brush. Add a hint of heat to your complexion by dusting the apples of your cheeks with a rosy blush.
The smoky eyeshadow
Now to perfect the focal point of your look: the daytime smoky eye! Start by using a pencil eyeliner to coat the water lines inside of your lashes, working the pencil right up to the inner corner of your tearducts.
Then choose a dark charcoal grey eyeshadow and sweep the color across your lids and into your creaselines, focusing the shade on the outer corners of your lids. Switch to a precision application brush to work this shade under your lower lashes, allowing the color to smudge and bleed slightly for a grungy edge.
Switch to a shimmering lighter shade of grey to blend over your lids, and then change to a bright silver and dust it around your tearducts to add a hint of luminosity. Give your lashes a single coat of mascara and you are done!
