This season, designers like Alexander McQueen and Erdem brought an air of romanticism to the runways with Victorian-inspired lace and voluminous sleeves that transported us back to an era celebrated by feminine delicacy.
For her first appearance on the 69th Cannes Film Festival red carpet, L'Oreal muse Barbara Palvin adopted the spring-summer 2016 runway trend, and introduced us to the era of old world romance with her ethereal soft pink lace gown which was complimented by ruffled sleeves and a black waist band.
The youthful brunette shifted the trend to her beauty routine as well, opting for minimal makeup, a soft pink lip, and a teased ponytail that made her look appear more effortless. It's safe to say that Barbara's Julieta premiere look was one we totally fell in love with!
ROMANTIC MAKEUP: GET THE LOOK
To achieve Barbara's minimalist makeup, start off by moisturizing your skin to prepare for a glowing complexion. Next, unify your complexion with a cushion foundation. Gently press the pad down into the formula and pat against your skin, covering all aspects of your face for a flawless, even base.
Use a liquid illuminator to achieve Barbara's dewy, youthful glow. Apply a small amount of formula on the back of your hand, and use a beauty blender to dip the formula from your hand to your skin, gently rubbing it into your skin. Apply illuminator to the bridge of your nose, forehead, cheekbones, and middle of your chin.
Follow up with a bronzing powder, and use a brush to gently sweep the powder along the middle of your forehead, lower cheekbones, and bottom of your chin for a slight sun-kissed glow.
Use L'Oreal's volumizing Superstar Mascara to create large, out-of-this-world lashes. Apply multiple coats on both your top and bottom lashes to open up the eye.
Finish off by gently dabbing a soft pink lipstick onto your mouth, inch by inch. This will create a natural, fresh-looking smile like Barbara's!
TEASED PONYTAIL: GET THE LOOK
Since ponytails have become such a popular trend this season, you should almost be a pro at perfecting them! But in case you need a few extra tips, follow our simple steps.
Start by spraying damp hair with L'Oreal's Matt & Messy Spray. Use your fingers to scrunch your hair section by section, until you achieve your desired, messy look.
Once your hair is dry pull it back into a ponytail, leaving a few strands of hair to hang by the sides of your ears and neck for that tousled, effortless look. Secure with an elastic. Next, take a strand of hair from your ponytail, and wrap it around your elastic. Secure with bobby pins.
Lastly, use a voluminous strong hold hairspray to spray all areas of your hair. After spraying your ponytail, gently scrunch the hair to ensure that tousled look.
Stay tuned to see what Barbara will wear for her next red carpet appearance!
