With awards season – along with the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival – behind us, the glamour and glitz of the red carpet is slowly beginning to fade away. That is, until last night, when L'Oreal muse Barbara Palvin stepped out onto the red carpet for the New York City premiere of Goat.
Wearing a black one-shoulder satin gown with small cut-outs along one side, Barbara stayed true to her simple aesthetic, yet gave it a small dose of sex appeal. Her hair and makeup helped add a sultry feel to her look with a tousled, I-Woke-Up-Like-This hairstyle and a naturally dewy glow.
We're so inspired by Barbara's ability to turn simple into sexy that we're showing you how to do the same. Read on to find out how to re-create her look!
BARBARA PALVIN: TOUSLED HAIR AND A DEWY GLOW
A CAREFREE HAIRSTYLE
While we're used to seeing Barbara opt for a less is more aesthetic, she's known more for her feminine up-dos and natural makeup looks than she is for a carefree, tousled hair 'do. That's why we love that she experimented with this look! And while it may look like the ultimate carefree, cool-girl 'do, achieving an effortless hairstyle surprisingly takes some, well, effort. Ready to re-create her look? Read on!
The best way to begin re-creating this style is to start off with damp, fresh-out-of-the-shower hair. If you don't have time to wash and condition your locks, work with day (or 2) old hair – it will make creating that messy look a little simpler.
Next, start off by tousling your hair slightly with your fingers, then work in L'Oreal's Matt & Messy Spray, scrunching the hair with your hands as you do. This will create a messy look to begin with.
To enhance your tousled locks, place a dime size of mousse onto your hands, then scrunch it into your hair, working your way up from ends to root. This will create tousled waves that stay put when you decide to hit the town for the night. After your hair has dried, spray it with volumizing hairspray to ensure a style that lasts. Play around with different messy styles, like throwing a portion of your hair over to one side, for example, to give off that carefree look that Barbara pulls off so well!
A NATURALLY DEWY GLOW
Just when you thought dewy skin was out with the summer, Barbara Palvin went and made it cool again with her slightly 'wet' looking complexion. She kept the rest of her look simple, wearing a nude shade of shadow, mascara and a clear lipgloss to finish it off. Want to re-create her look? Follow our simple steps!
To create a dewy base, start off by moisturizing your skin thoroughly. Then, prep it for makeup by applying L'Oreal's Lumi Primer to all areas of your face.
Next, use an illuminating BB cream to create shine on your forehead, bridge of nose, high points of your cheeks, and chin, while covering up any problem areas or redness. To create the ultimate 'wet' look, you can even spray your face with a mist of water before leaving the house!
Using a light golden brown eyeshadow, cover your upper lids up to the crease of your eyes for a super natural look. Take a darker shade of brown and blend it into the outer corners of your eyes to create a little more glamour.
Next, use a volumizing mascara like L'Oreal's Voluminous Mascara to coat your upper and lower lashes, placing more emphasis on the outer lashes of your upper lids.
Finish off with a touch of clear lipgloss on your lips to match that glowing complexion!
