With the year 2016 finally coming to an end, we're beginning to look in excitement to the year ahead for the hair, makeup and fashion trends to come. And while we're going to miss the glitz and glam that was glitter eyelids, lips, roots and brows, we can't wait to go back to basics with some of the following 4 emerging beauty trends that will be making major waves in 2017.
So without further ado, here are 4 easy-to-achieve and totally wearable beauty trends that are about to blow up in 2017.
4 EMERGING BEAUTY TRENDS TO LOOK OUT FOR IN 2017
This past year, we started to see the beginning of what will be an obsession with chrome nails in the new year. Chrome (or mirror) manicures are so high-shine, you can actually see your reflection in the surface of your nail. Hit your nearest salon or opt for a simple chrome polish to get this look on every nail!
BRAIDED TOP KNOT
You could keep rocking this past year's classic bun, but by incorporating a braid (at the top, sides, middle – you name it!) you can add major pizzazz to your look. A braided chignon or a braid that runs from your neck to the top of a bun is a versatile look that can be worn during a night out, to the office, or to the gym!
HEAT FREE HAIR
This season, it was all about natural, textured hair that gives you the cool-girl look (see: Cara Delevingne). For some, curling irons and other hot tools might be staples in your hair care arsenal, but they don't create masterpieces without leaving behind some damage. Consider going on a heat hiatus in 2017 – there are plenty of easy ways to achieve texture without it. Try applying a texture or beach spray to damp hair and scrunching it with your fingers. If your hair is naturally textured, learn to embrace it!
LIP AND CHEEK STAINS
Lip and cheek stains are liquid formulas that work for both your lips and your cheeks. The perks of opting for a liquid cheek stain over a powder blush? Liquid cheek stains give you a more natural appearance, and can be worn underneath foundation for a more natural flush that appears to radiate out from under your skin. In the new year, opt for double-duty formulas that will cut back on makeup bag bulk. Don't have a cheek stain? Use your favourite pink lip gloss as a substitute!
