All you need is our guide to contouring as well as a bit of blusher, bronzer and highlighter to really bring shape to your face and cheekbones!

Beauty dictionary: contouring

Contouring is a special makeup technique that can be used to bring definition to your face. Technically, it is the art of highlighting and shading. Many people with round cheeks like to use this makeup style because you can use it to make your face look thinner. Celebrity fans of contouring include Kim Kardashian.

The magic ingredients in contouring are bronzer and blusher and a little bit of highlighter. The magic rule is don't overdo it.

You can also think of doing stripes on your cheeks. Of course, it isn't that literal. But you want light under your eyes, then a bit of blush on your cheeks and then contour lines of bronzer under your cheek bones!

Here's how to do it:

After putting on your base (most people do liquid foundation, then touch-ups with cover-up and then powder), get out your highlighter. You can get online guides of where to apply it. Basically, you want highlighter under your eyes extending just a bit onto your cheekbones, under your eyebrows and in a few other strategic places in youru face.

Next, it's time to reach for your blush brush.

To make your face appear slimmer, suck your cheeks in and apply your bronzer to the hollow in your cheeks, extending the colour from about midway across your cheeks up to your temples. Like we said, don't go overboard. Lighter application is better. Remember, you want to make your face look slimmer, you don't want to make it look like you are wearing too much bronzer.

Another trick is to very lightly dust your bronzer on the edge of your forehead and around the edge of your face so that the colour and lines blend in with the strokes on your cheek.

Using a blusher of your choice, then dab a bit of pink to the apples of your cheeks. Choose a pink with a bit of light or sparkle in it to really bring out your cheek bones and bring you that healthy glow.
