Benedict Cumberbatch: Sherlock goes with slick hair for TIFF & "12 Years A Slave" premiere

We've all forgotten completely that Brad Pitt is in the film 12 Years A Slave, because it also happened to star British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

The tall, lanky, odd-looking and still somehow surprisingly sexy actor has been scoring good roles for years (often the kind requiring good acting skills, not mere good looks), but he has recently grabbed everyone's attention with his role as Sherlock Holmes.

Perhaps it is this performance that propelled him into the running to join the all-star cast of 12 Years a Slave, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor as well as a rather hairy Brad Pitt among others.

It was Benedict's role in this film that brought him to the TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival to strut his tall stuff on the red carpet. For the occasion, he took a comb and gel to his hair. His longish locks were thus kept under control with a side part and a gentle, gelled wave. Whether or not you like the wet look for dudes, you have to admit that it worked well with Benedict-- almost better than messy curls or other guy alternatives would. Is it the retro nature of the style? Or the poshness?

Who knows, but Sherlock's got style... check out another one of his TIFF looks, too!
