With the Cannes red carpet radiating under the sun, and celebrities including Blake Lively , Woody Allen, and Jesse Eisenberg gathering together for one glamourous photocall, it's safe to say that the 69th Cannes Film Festival has officially begun! And with the opening of the new Woody Allen film, a strong precedent has been set for the rest of the festival.
At 80 years-old, film director Woody Allen opens his third Cannes Film Festival with his new film Café Society, following Hollywood Ending in 2002 and Midnight in Paris in 2011. His new movie, a romantic comedy about a young New Yorker who moves to Hollywood to find work in the film industry in the 1930s, is honoured to celebrate the opening of the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival.
The movie portrays Jesse Eisenberg in the role of Bobby Dorfman, a younger New Yorker who moves to Hollywood, where he falls in love with a young woman named Theresa (played by Kristen Stewart). The bittersweet romance follows Bobby back to New York, he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life.
Surrounded by a stunning cast that includes Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart, and Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Allen made quite a splash at today's film opening. Director, actor, writer, and comedian, Allen is a respected figure and great name in cinema.
Jesse Eisenberg made his appearance wearing a blue checkered button-down shirt, navy blazer and jeans, while L'Oreal Paris ambassador Blake Lively appeared happy and smiling, turning heads in a fiery red jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and matching neck sash.
