Cannes 2014: a surprising color trend from the red carpet!

White has been a major color trend for the better part of a year now, so we weren't all that surprised when it popped up time and time again on the Cannes 2014 red carpet. However, there was one hue we weren't expecting to see on so many of our favorite A-listers: emerald green!

L'Oreal Ambassadors Zoe Saldana and Julianne Moore were both spotted in the color, along with Lea Seydoux, Mireille Enos, and Robert Pattinson. Move over, Radiant Orchid! We think emerald green might just be the "next big thing"!

Let's take a closer look at our green looks on the red carpet...

Lea Seydoux

For the premiere of her latest film, Saint Laurent, Lea Seydoux hit the red carpet in this dramatic emerald green silk dress. The French star's gown featured a dramatic train and bead embellishments. She paired the look with a plum lip which, combined with her fiery hair, truly wowed!

Zoe Saldana

At the Mr. Turner premiere, Zoe wore a floor-length black chiffon dress with emerald green velvet detailing that creating a sort of feather-meets-floral motif. The actress paired the dress with a dark smoky eye and casually tousled updo for a stunning red carpet look.

Mireille Enos

At the premiere of Atom Egoyan's Captives, Mireille Enos wore a sparkling green floor-length dress. Green is a great color for redheads, and Mireille clearly knows what she's doing because her beauty look included another color that suits red haired and green eyed gals: purple!

Julianne Moore

To promote her role in the latest Hunger Games film, Julianne Moore hit the red carpet in this one shouldered green dress. The fabric draped beautifully and really complemented Julianne's jewel-toned lipstick. Nailed it!

Robert Pattinson

For the photocall of his film Rover, Robert Pattinson wore a casual daytime outfit with a black shirt and green cotton blazer. It was a simple look, but the rich hue offered a great pop of color.

So, will you be wearing emerald green the next time you're on the red carpet?
