Canadian actor Ryan Gosling made his directorial debut at the 67th Cannes Film Festival yesterday, May 20,with the film Lost River. The Drive star unveiled his entry in the "Un Certain Regard" category, created in 1998 to shine a spotlight on emerging talent in the film inductry.
A stylish cast
Ryan penned and directed the film, which stars Christina Hendricks as a single mother who is swept into a dark underworld, when her teenage son uncovers a passage that leads to a secret underwater town. It also stars Ryan's real-life girlfriend, Eva Mendes, and former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
Several of the stars were at Cannes to attend the film's premiere. Mad Men's Christina Hendricks made sure all eyes were on her at the premiere by turning up in an exquisite gothic style gown that featured sheer panels and bead embellishments. The black gown and its amazing train gave the star a dramatic look and accentuated her flame red locks. She completed the look with some red lipstick and bold eyeliner.
Matt Smith was rocking a rather sharp three piece blue suit complete with crisp white shirt and coordinating tie. The English actor finished off his look with his signature quiff and some contrasting shoes.
Ryan looked as dreamy as always in a dapper tux, but he made the outfit his own by pairing it with a simple white shirt instead of the traditional bow tie. The snazzy outfit looked very suave with his smooth hairstyle and subtle scruff.
So, will you be seeing Lost River when it hits theaters? We will!
