Each day brings us closer to the highly-anticipated Cannes Film Festival and the closer we get, the more we find out about the films in competition! Among them is French-Canadian director Denis Villeneuve's Sicario. As part of the prestigious "Official Selection" of the festival, the film will compete for the Palme d'Or Award, another chance for Canada to make waves in the film industry!
An FBI agent named Kate Mercer is recruited for a CIA mission that's top-secret and high-risk. From the US to Mexico, the team works to bring down a Mexican drug cartel boss, while Kate is forced to do things that will "rock her ethical and moral values to the limit."
One of the hottest actresses in Hollywood, British beauty Emily Blunt's (Into the Woods, The Five Year Engagement) presence almost guarantees a film's success! The cherry on top? Famed Puerto Rican actor Benicio Del Toro (The Usual Suspects, Snatch, Sin City) and Josh Brolin (American Gangster, Harvey Milk) co-star alongside her.
Why we want to see it
Both for the great casting and the talent of Denis Villeneuve. It's impossible to forget the extreme scenarios and sublime direction of his last films Incendies, Prisoners, and Enemy. Plus, Cannes jury member Jake Gyllenhaal is a huge fan- he's already starred in two of the Quebecker's films!
Can't wait until this one hits theaters! Good Luck Denis!
