With the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival just around the corner, we're looking back at some of the best fashion and beauty looks to take over last year's red carpet. As per usual, L'Oreal Paris ambassador and supermodel Doutzen Kroes was one of the many admired celebs to impress us with their classic red carpet glamour.
The blonde bombshell went with a timeless red lip and sleek, wet hair appeal that seems to have inspired one of the upcoming season's most sophisticated hair trends – out-of-pool wet hair. While models at Giambattista Valli and Paco Rabanne's Fall 2016-17 shows resembled Doutzen's slicked back locks, stylists took a more natural approach to the lacquered look, leaving models faces bare for a stark contrast that can be worn day-to-day.
At Mugler, the look was wet and side-swept, with models hair parted at one side of their head, creating slicked bangs for a cool, yet refined look. Meanwhile, Saint Laurent's Fall 2016-17 show was the epitome of Hollywood glamour, closely resembling Doutzen's look with slicked back roots, red lips, and topped off with gold and silver accessories.
Want to achieve this sleek, wet hair look? Follow our steps below to duplicate Doutzen's Cannes red carpet look.
To achieve this look, start off by prepping your hair for heat with L'Oreal's Styling Heat Spray Volume. Section your hair off into two parts (top and bottom) with a clip, and use a large barrel curling iron to create loose, large waves on the bottom section of the hair. If you have long locks like Doutzen, curl only the bottom few inches of your hair. Next, release the top section of your hair from the clip, and proceed with curling the bottom inches of the section.
Once the ends of your hair are curled, use Strong Hold Hairspray to keep them in place. Spray the formula onto the tips of your fingers, and run your fingers through the length of your hair to create that damp appeal.
To achieve that shiny, wet look on your roots, run L'Oreal's Gel Extra Strong Hold from root to ear level with a fine-tooth comb. Make sure to gently guide the product-rich hair up and back as the gel sets. Then, to enhance the slightly imperfect texture of the rest of the hair, apply L'Oreal's Matt & Messy Definition Spray to the bottom half of your head. Scrunch the hair through with your fingers for extra volume.
The finishing touch? All-over hold, courtesy of L'Oreal's Fix & Shine Extra Strong Hold Hairspray. Add a red lip and voila! You're ready to take on the red carpet (or the runway) like Doutzen Kroes!
