On last night's Cannes Film Festival red carpet, supermodel and L'Oreal muse Karlie Kloss stunned in a silver metallic gown adorned with gold sequin stripes and a single side slit that showed off her enviable long legs.
Although Karlie's metallic look at the premiere of Julieta was not one we hadn't seen before – this year's Met Gala theme was Manus x Machina, which brought a sea of chic cyborgs and futuristic gowns to the red carpet – she managed to add a unique twist to the trend of the season.
KARLIE'S FEMININE ACCESSORIES
While we often expect metallic, glitter and sequin looks to be paired with cold makeup shades, and sleek, futuristic hairstyles, Karlie added her own twist to the trend by accessorizing her curly back-combed locks with a black bow headband.
She tied the bow slightly to the side of her head, using it to push her hair back to allow for a bumped-up, voluminous look. To achieve Karlie's '60s-inspired hairstyle, start off by spraying your hair with protective heat spray. Back-comb the hairs on the top of your head, and brush gently down to create a smooth look on top.
Next, use a medium barrel curling iron to curl your hair, strand by strand, starting at your ends and working your way up to the crown of your head. Last, but not least, wrap a ribbon around your head closer to your hairline, and tie into a bow at the top for a youthful, ultra-feminine look!
SOFT PINK MAKEUP
Similar to her feminine accessories, Karlie drifted from the cold metallic look when it came to the makeup department. Instead, she opted for a light pink blush, matching pink lips, and a few coats of mascara on her top and bottom lashes for a natural, feminine look that gave her cool complexion a hint of colour and life.
To achieve this look, unify your base with a liquid foundation. Next, apply a soft pink blush to the apples of your cheeks to give yourself a slight flush. Use liquid illuminator to highlight the high points of your cheekbones, middle of your forehead, bridge of nose, and middle of your chin. Apply a few coats of mascara to your top and bottom lashes, and finish off a soft pink lipstick for a Karlie-approved red carpet look!
