August 21 was the official release date of Carly Rae Jepsen's hot new album, E·MO·TION, and we couldn't be more excited! On the eve of August 20, the 29-year-old songstress saw in her new release by performing at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City wearing a warm, canary yellow pencil skirt with a matching sleeveless blouse, which she then teamed with tropical, multi-colored heels and a gorgeously natural makeup look. To top it off, Carly had her cute short cut with bangs styled into a choppy, face-framing bob: one of the hottest styles of the summer season which she has given her own signature edge.
Want to copy Carly's cute cut and her dark brunette shade? Here's how...
The short bob with bangs can seem like a daunting style to try, especially if you are used to a much longer hair length. When considering converting to a short bob, make sure you take into account your face shape, as what works on some people sadly doesn't work on others! Carly has a heart-shaped face, which really works to her favour with both the short length of her current style and her super sweet choppy bangs.
If you are unsure, ask your stylist for professional advice about whether they think a cut like Carly's will suit your face shape. For dramatic changes to your style, always take a picture of the cut you want with you to the salon to give your stylist the best chance to get it just right. Ask for choppy layers throughout both your cut and your bangs for a bit of Carly's signature rock and roll texture!
If you aren't lucky enough to be born with luxuriously dark locks, then you are going to need a little helping hand from some hair dye!
Firstly, turning to the dark side with your hair color is all about making sure it matches your skin tone. Due to her pale coloring, Carly can rock intense shades easily, as her ivory complexion becomes a soft blank canvas to contrast against any hair shade. Olive skin tones also look gorgeous against off-black shades like Carly's, whilst English roses need to be a little more careful in case they look washed out.
