Celebrity hair inspiration: James Franco at the Venice Film Festival

by Kathy Saunders -

James Franco is one of this year's most highly anticipated celebrity guests at the Venice International Film Festival and when he hit the red carpet for the premiere of his latest film Palo Alto, he didn't disappoint... especially when it came to his choice of hairstyle.

(The photo above was pretty cool, too, don't you think?)

For girls, a ponytail or a chic bun are go-to hairstyles for a simple yet successful red carpet look. For guys, some kind of styled side part has the same effect. There's the groomed side part, a look which is smooth and looks very formal, and then there are messier takes on the style , just like James Franco's Venetian look.

Get inspired

If looking like a hugely successful movie star is something that tickles your fancy, you'll be glad to know that a hairstyle like the one pictured atop Mr Franco's bonce is very easy to replicate.

How to do it

All you have to do is part your hair to one side with a comb and let it dry (either naturally or with a blow dryer) before styling it. After that, apply a small amount of product - some kind of paste or matte putty works really well - after warming it in your hands first.

Run it through all of your hair and use your fingers to create a slightly tousled yet controlled look. And you're done! Like we said, easy.

Now all you have to do is land a part in a huge Hollywood movie...
