While the runways of Fashion Week might be the most obvious place to search out up-and-coming hairstyle trends, we also love to see what pops up on the red carpet so we can steal the style of our favorite celebrities! One look we're especially loving for Spring/Summer 2015 are half-up, half-down waves, as seen on Chloe Grace Moretz, Lily James and Keira Knightley.
All about the hair
Popular in the 1960s (most notably by French actress Brigitte Bardot), this vintage-inspired look is a perfect match for the boho-chic trend. From ultra-silky and honey-hued to softly tousled, the half-up half-down hairstyle is relaxed, feminine and romantic. Best of all? It's one of those "wear anywhere" looks that's easygoing enough for a casual shopping trip, yet put together enough for the red carpet!
Try the trend
The technique you use for curling your hair depends on the type of waves you want to create. For soft waves like Chloe and Lily, use a round barrel brush as you blow dry your hair, curling as much or as little as you want. For more textured waves like Keira, use a curling wand to curl medium sections of hair all over and then loosen them up by brushing through with your fingers.
Once your hair is curled, use a tail comb to create a perfect center part. Smooth the sides back with your hands (not too tight, but not too loose) and secure with a barrette. Now, you can either spritz your hair with hairspray to set it, or pull a few short sections loose at the front to frame your face, then spray to set. All done!
