Today in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld showed off his Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2017 collection for Chanel at the Grand Palais. The usual crew of supermodels like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid took the runway wearing halterneck chiffon gowns adorned with sequins and feathers, while newcomers like Lily-Rose Depp closed the show in a swan-like confection of pink organza froth.
If there's one thing we noticed, it was that the collection strayed away from the usual tweed spotted on the Chanel runway – and that models donned subtle nude makeup looks that gave balanced to their over-the-top ensembles. Read on for the top beauty trends from the Chanel Spring/Summer 2017 to gain beauty inspiration for spring!
BEAUTY TRENDS FROM THE CHANEL SPRING/SUMMER 2017 RUNWAY
Models took the runway with their hair worn pulled back and slicked to one side thanks to a deep side part for a 20s-inspired flapper girl look that was pulled together with a feather adorned gown.
To get this look, start off by parting your hair over to one side using a fine tooth comb. Then, slick the hair to the one side by applying gel, using the comb to brush it through. Bring the comb and gel down to ear level, then stop, leaving the rest of your hair loose on your shoulders. Next, pull the loose hair up into a sleek bun at the lower back portion of your head for a flapper, Chanel-inspired look!
MINIMAL EYE MAKEUP
While Chanel runway shows of the past have featured models with everything from graphic liner to pastel lids, the Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture show took a different route. Models wore little to no eye makeup, focusing on strong brows and cheekbones, instead.
To enhance your eyes with the least amount of eye makeup possible, use a light brown shadow, and apply it using a fluffy brush onto your upper lid, blending it slightly outwards past your outer corners. Then, use an angled brush to enhance your bottom lid with the same shade of shadow. Finish off with a touch of lengthening mascara on your upper lashes only.
In addition to showing off bold brows, models took the Chanel runway with sculpted cheekbones enhanced with the help of bronzing powder. The look was subtle, yet strong, and added a fierce touch when paired next to sleek, short hair.
A touch of bronzing powder on your cheekbones is the perfect way to add a little colour to your face during the winter season. To get this look, simply take a bronzing blush or contour powder and apply it using an angled brush onto your cheekbones up to where your ears begin. If you'd like, use the same powder to enhance your jawline for a strong, sophisticated spring look!
The perfect addition to a subtly strong makeup look? A nude lip, of course. Models lips were enhanced with a touch of matte, nude lipstick with a slightly brown tint that complemented bronzed cheekbones.
