Most eyes are on the clothes at Fashion Week, but we can't help checking out the hair and beauty backstage. At the Au Jour Le Jour presentation during Milan Fashion Week we saw this bold colorblock manicure that is sure to put some spring in your step!
Featuring bold colors, this runway-ready look is certainly not for the faint at heart. If you think you've got what it takes to try the trend, follow our expert tips below to master the look from home.
What You'll Need
Nail polish in 10 different colors (two shades per nail), a base coat, a clear top coat and washi tape (this is less sticky than regular tape and therefore easier to peel off your nails).
Get the Look
Apply a base coat. Then, starting with the lightest colors, paint your nails. Let the base color dry completely.
Once dry, apply the washi tape to the part of your nail you don't want to paint over with another color. You can mimic the look directly from the runway, or to change things up, you can create a variety of angles and shapes by moving the washi tape in a different direction.
Paint over the half of your nail that isn't covered in the tape. Make sure you covered the exposed area evenly.
Repeat the process for all of your nails and allow the polish to fully dry, then carefully remove the tape.
Finish with a clear clossy top coat and you're all set!
