There's something to be said about a makeup application technique that lasts for more than one season, which is the case with contouring, the method that celebrities and influencers have been using for the past few seasons, and one that has been transformed into multiple variations of itself, always creating a flawless, sculpted finish.
After seeing various methods of contouring pop up on the beauty scene (see: strobing), designers and labels such as Olivier Rousteing's Balmain went back to basics for spring/summer 2017, showing off models with perfectly defined cheekbones, created with dark powder.
Among the model set was L'Oreal Paris ambassador Doutzen Kroes , who sported perfectly bronzed, sculpted cheekbones, and minimal lip and eye makeup that kept all of the attention on her flawlessly defined complexion. And while we love a little lip contour and voluminous lashes, this time, it's all about the facial structure.

DOUTZEN KROES: GET HER CONTOURED COMPLEXION USING L'OREALS INFALLIBLE PRO-CONTOUR PALETTE
The key to achieving a sculpted, goddess-worthy complexion? L'Oreal's Pro-Contour Palette that gives you cheekbones you never knew you had in just 3 simple steps, and 30 seconds.
To start off, unify your base with a lightweight cushion foundation that will provide full coverage along with a healthy, dewy glow. Simply press the sponge into the formula until you collect your desired amount of product. Gently dab the pad onto your complexion, covering all areas, including your neck for perfect, even coverage.
After you've achieved a unified base, it's time for the best part: contouring. To begin the process, use L'Oreal's Infallible Pro-Contour Palette that contains two shades – one lighter, one darker – that blend together to create a naturally sculpted look. Using a small blending brush, start with the lighter shade in the palette, and sweep it across the high points of your cheekbones up to your temples and under the eyes, middle of your chin, forehead, and bridge of your nose.
Next, using the darker shade in the palette, use the brush to sweep colour across the lower portion of your cheekbones, temples, and sides of your nose that surround the bridge. Blend the colours together using a blending brush for a natural, I-woke-up-like-this effect.
To compliment your contour, apply a small amount of light brown shadow onto your upper lids, then add a light coat of mascara onto your upper and lower lashes to accentuate the eyes even further.
For the ultimate defined look, use a brow gel or pencil to colour in the bare spots within your brows. Start by using a small brow brush to brush the hair upwards and out, creating a defined and put-together look. Then, colour in the area with a brow gel or pencil shade that matches your hair colour.
To keep all attention on your perfectly sculpted features, opt for a nude, matte lip colour that will stay under the radar, yet make your eyes pop!
