Like many other L'Oreal muses, Doutzen Kroes decided that black was the colour of choice for this year's amfAR charity gala. But unlike the other muses, the Dutch supermodel opted for a look that was a mixture of '90s edge and bad-girl chic.
The supermodel stepped out wearing a black long-sleeved mini dress that sparkled under the spotlight, giving Doutzen an edgy '90s club look. The dress came adorned with a matching choker that only added to her cool '90s vibes. With bold liner and tousled, volumized curls, Doutzen made a bold statement that had us reaching for our back combs and hairspray.
To achieve Doutzen's sultry, tousled hair, start by using a fine tooth comb to back comb your hair for a volumized look. Part your hair in the middle, and starting at the back of your head, gently brush the hairs back towards the root. Do this on each side of your head, making sure to keep the part in the middle.
Next, pull your hair back into a half ponytail, grabbing hair from the front section of your head on both sides. Secure with an elastic, and let a few strands of hair hang loose along the front of your face.
Spray your hair with a heat protective spray before curling. Then, start by curling the small strands of hair left out at the front of your head, and work your way to the back, curling your ponytail and lengths of your hair.
Spray L'Oreal's Matt & Messy spray on your curled locks, and gently scrunch and tousle your hair with your fingers. This will create Doutzen's messy look.
Spray your entire head with a strong hold hairspray and voila, you're look is complete!
After applying foundation and bronzer to your skin, achieve Doutzen's bold eyes by smudging a golden brown shadow across your upper lid and lower lash line.
Use a black liquid eyeliner to line your upper lids, following the groove of your eye and extending the liner outwards for a slight cat eye effect.
Next, use a black pencil or gel liner and smear the formula along your lower lash line. Use an eye blending brush to slightly smudge the liner into your lash line.
Use a volumizing mascara like L'Oreal's Superstar Mascara to coat your upper and lower lashes multiple times for the ultimate Doutzen-inspired look.
Use a gel formula or pencil to fill in your brows according to your hair colour. Full, bold brows will create the illusion of larger, more dramatic eyes like Doutzen's.
