Whether on the runway or those star-studded front rows, style and beauty inspiration is everywhere at New York Fashion Week! Last Friday, September 11, saw the hotly anticipated Givenchy show take place at Pier 26, bringing our very own model and L'Oréal Paris ambassadorDoutzen Kroes to check out the new collection.
The 30-year-old model stepped out in front of the cameras wearing Givenchy for the occasion, choosing to wear black from head-to-toe: from her heeled leather boots to her super sexy fitted bodice. Doutzen finished off her biker-chick look with a dramatic smoky eye and gorgeously sleek and smooth locks: a killer combination and so easy to copy yourself at home! Ready to do a Doutzen? Here's how...
Get the look
Sleek, straight hair is so easy to master: you just need to factor in some regular hair care products to get your locks looking - and feeling - fabulously healthy. Use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner range whenever you wash your hair and make sure you get your doses right: only use a coin-sized amount of shampoo to prevent your hair from drying out and massage the conditioner into the ends of your tresses rather than your roots. Incorporate a high-moisture hair mask into your routine a couple of times per week to give your locks a regular moisture boost!
When styling your hair silky straight, think about your heat protection in layers: start with a mist throughout your lengths just before you blowdry and then give your locks another coat of protection before you even touch your locks to the iron: smooth hair needs to be hydrated! finish with a spritz of hairspray and run the palms of your hands from your part down to your tips before the hairspray sets to tame any flyaways.
The smoky eye
Start by smoothing an illuminating eye primer over your lids to fix your dramatic eyeshadow shade in place. Allow this to fully absorb, and use a liquid eyeliner to coat the water lines inside of your lashes, giving your eyes a cat-like, sultry definition.
Choose a dark coal-grey eyeshadow shade and dust it along your lids and into your crease lines, dabbing a small amount under your lower lashes for a soft, smouldering effect. Switch to a light silver shade, and blend across the lid with a fresh application brush before dusting this metallic tone around the tearduct and under the lower lashes. Finish the whole look with two coats of black, thickening mascara and you are ready to rock Givenchy like Doutzen!
