July 9 saw one of our favorite models, Doutzen Kroes, step out for the Mercedes-Benz Press Vernissage at Berlin Fashion Week, switching up both her city and her style since last appearing in the Paris Atelier Versace show a few days ago. The L'Oréal Paris ambassador really turned heads in the German capital in a backless Stella McCartney gown in white, pink and blue, opting for a natural makeup look to complement the minimalist dress.
To crown it all, Doutzen wore her caramel-colored hair in a voluminous chignon at the nape of her neck, softening the block-coloring of her gown and giving her hair a romantic, partial french twist. If you have a special event coming up, why not make yourself the belle of any ball with Doutzen's Berlin updo? Here's how to get the look...
Get the look
Begin with freshly washed hair and work volumizing mousse into the damp roots, massaging the scalp with your fingertips. Spritz throughout with a heat protection spray before blowdrying with your head upside down to really maximize on the volume.
Once dry, use your fingers to draw your hair backwards from the temple and divide into three large sections. Secure the middle section loosely at the back of the head with bobby pins to allow for volume, then draw the side sections together angled slightly to one side, then start creating a French twist effect, securing with bobby pins where necessary.
Twist the two side sections together with one side wrapping over the other and secure with pins once again. Don't worry about any loose strands, simply gather these up and fold them around the twist before securing each of them to give this look a romantic effect.
Finish with a generous mist of fixitive hairspray and team with a "no-makeup" makeup look and you are done!
