Maia Mitchell's tousled updo

Editor's Pick: Maia Mitchell's best hairstyles

Australian actress and singer Maia Mitchell (The Fosters) has been sporting some pretty flawless hairstyles recently. The bronzed brunette's winning streak started last November, when she attended the American Music Awards with Old Hollywood waves that were perfectly styled and very on-trend. Since then she's walked the red carpet with some enviable looks we can't wait to recreate at home.

This week, Maia (and her perfect, glossy locks) are our Editor's Pick! Let's take a closer look at her fantastic hairstyles...

Maia's Mane

Tousled updo: On June 5, Maia attended an event with a naturally piecy, tousled updo. The slightly unkempt look is hugely popular at the moment and the low-key style was a perfect complement for Maia's blue suede ensemble and minimal, bronzed beauty look.

To style: Create loose waves throughout your hair and then spray the hair liberally with sea salt spray. Create a messy side part and then gather the hair into a messy low bun.

Sleek and loose: Maia's sleek hair with side part was another easy-going, but high-style, look. Straight hair is a great choice for Maia, who has beautifully shiny hair, as it reflects the light better than curly hair.

To style: Condition your hair with a nourishing hair mask before you shampoo. Then, use a paddle brush to blow-dry your hair as straight as possible, before finishing off the look with a smoothing serum or hair oil.

Beachy curls: A center part with loose curls cascading down either side, the beachy look clearly suits Maia! Once again, the actress kept her makeup look natural and glowing for a casually put-together effect.

To style: Starting with dry hair, use a medium curling iron to create curls all over your hair. Once the hair cools down, use your fingers to break up the curls and shake them loose. Finish off with a generous mist of hairspray.

Half-up style: We love this bouffant-inspired half-up hairstyle! The loose curls lend some texture to the look while a good amount of teasing creates volume at the crown of the head. It's truly a glamorous red carpet look.

To style: Curl your hair all over, and then create a side part. Gently tease the hair at the crown of the head and then smooth some hair over the teased sections before securing it with bobby pins at the back.
