Emmy Rossum: a blue smoky eye for brown eyed girls

Emmy Rossum (of Shameless) hit the red carpet in style on April 15, 2014, for the launch of CHOO.08 by Jimmy Choo. Since it's Friday and we're feeling bold, we'll just go ahead and say it: this look was flawless. For the event, Emmy wore a silver metallic strapless dress that fit like a glove with coordinating metallic shoes and clutch bag. She styled her hair in a super slick ponytail that put her dramatic beauty look right on display.

It's all in the eyes

You already know how much we loved the quirky eye print nail art Emmy rocked that night, but we also had our eyes on another pair of peepers! The actress' bright blue smoky eye look was right on-trend and perfectly complimented her deep brown eye color.

Brown-eyes gals are lucky because brown is thought of as a neutral and therefore works well with almost any eyeshadow shade- from champagne to bronze to pale pink. Bright colors like cobalt blue, however, are a great way to make brown eyes really stand out. So you want to get the look?

Turn around, bright eyes

Step one: Apply a wash of white eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eye, along the bottom lash line, and all over the eyelid (extending past the creaseline).

Step two: Use a blending brush to apply blue eyeshadow to your eyelid. Apply the shadow close to the lashline to start, then use the brush to blend it up toward the creaseline.

Step three: Apply blue eyeliner to your bottom lashline, then smudge it out to create a smoky eye look.

Step four: Apply two coats of mascara to give your lashes extra drama.

Et voila! A bold beauty look for a big statement!
