Eyeshadow trend: Mismatched metallic shadow

Eyeshadow trend: Mismatched metallic shadow

by Paige Exell -

When you're in a beauty rut, it's a little like looking in your closet and seeing absolutely nothing to wear. Sure, you have tons of products to create a killer look – a bold liner here, a bottle of texture spray there – but sometimes you just need a new boost of inspiration. That's why Get The Look is offering you a new way to wear one of the season's favourite shadow trends: metallic.

Remember when mismatched earrings first hit the fashion scene and runways? Well, now we're giving you mismatched eye makeup. The best part? It's super easy to achieve! Just sweep gold pigment onto one lid (don't forget to blend!) and silver onto the other lid. Feel free to try out the trend using different liners and colours, too!

Read on to find out how to achieve the mismatched shadow trend in just a few easy steps!

MISMATCHED METALLIC SHADOW TREND

STEP 1:

Start this look off by choosing your two favourite metallic shades. Whether it's a mermaid-inspired blue and purple or a classic silver and gold, choose any two metallic shades that will spice up your beauty routine, the world is your oyster!

STEP 2:

Once you've chosen your shades, take the first shade, and apply it onto your lid using a fluffy shadow brush. Gently dab the pigment onto the lid to ensure the colour doesn't run down onto your lashes, then sweep the brush in a back and forth motion across your lid to blend.

STEP 3:

Next, use the same fluffy shadow brush to apply the same shade of metallic shadow onto the inner corners of your eyes. This will brighten up the eye and give you a more dramatic look.

STEP 4:

Using an angled shadow brush, apply the first shade of shadow onto your lower lash line, connecting it to the shadow on the inner corners of your eyes and your upper lid. If it makes it easier to connect, wing the shadow on your upper lid outwards past your outer corners slightly.

STEP 5:

Enhance your lashes with a volumizing mascara on your upper and lower lashes from root to tip, then repeat steps 1-4 on your other eye using the second shade of metallic eyeshadow you chose in step 1.
