When it comes to fall makeup, it's all about adopting the warm colours that we see outside. Think shades of red, orange, brown and even yellow when shopping for new seasonal additions to your makeup bag. The one problem with these fall shades? They can be difficult to pull off all at once, meaning you must choose wisely when performing your daily makeup routine. That is, unless you take a tip from actress Elle Fanning, who figured out how to incorporate not one, but two fall shades into one look.
At the October 8th premiere of 20th Century Women during the New York Film Festival, Elle stole the spotlight wearing a matching pale yellow skirt and crop top set adorned with floral embellishments, polka dots and feminine ruffles. She amped up her playful look with shimmery orange shadow on her upper and lower lids, a bare complexion and a plum coloured pout.

FALL MAKEUP INSPIRATION: ELLE FANNING
The first step in creating a flawless fall makeup look is to unify and perfect your base – or is it? Rather than hide her freckles and uneven spots behind a thick layer of foundation, Elle opted to keep her skin bare, showing off nothing more than a subtle glow that can be achieved with a little moisturizer and liquid illuminator.
After creating that youthful, healthy glow, focus on your brows. If you're going to wear a bold shadow, chances are, attention will also move upwards towards your brows. So make sure they're full, brushed upwards and out, and drawn on to create clean lines if necessary.
When it comes to choosing a fall shadow colour, focus on what works best for you. If you have brown eyes, you may want to go for a red or brown smoky eye. If you have blue or green eyes – like in Elle's case – opt for shades of rust or orange to enhance your glare. Next, opt for a shimmery version of the colour you've chosen, and coat your upper lids, extending slightly outwards to create a dramatic cat-eye effect with the shadow. Colour in the area underneath your lower lash line as well. To enhance your eyes further, apply a few coats of mascara onto your lashes. For a look that's more focused on the shadow colour, leave your eyes bare like Elle did.
If you've chosen an orange shade like Elle, opt for a plum or other dark coloured lipstick that will compliment and contrast it well. If you've chosen a red or brown shade of shadow, opt for a vibrant red lip or a matte brown to keep the contrast!
