It may only be the middle of August, but if you're anything like us, your mind is already thinking fall fashion. Sure, we love the denim skirt and tank combo's we've been seeing all summer long, but with all of the gorgeous autumn looks we've seen come down the runway, it's been hard not to get excited for cooler weather and the accompanying clothing.
The only question left: Which trends are best to test out first? Because most of us like to be the first to try out a unique new trend (before everyone else does), we're offering you 5 fashion trends to try right now. The best part? When September rolls around they'll still be cool, and not to mention, everyone else will follow along!
5 FASHION TRENDS TO TRY FOR FALL 2016
If there's one trend that everyone will be wearing come fall, it's velvet. Designers like Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Prada, and Valentino have showcased the trend on fall 2016 runways, and to top things off, Hailey Baldwin recently stepped out wearing a gorgeous velvet Vatanika dress, while Kendall Jenner went for the velvet Gianvito Rossi booties. Whether it's boots, jackets, dresses, or tops, get ready to test out this fabric in all iterations!
BACK TO SCHOOL STYLE
Just in time for back-to-school season, our favourite designers are going back to class as everyone from Dries Van Noten to Coach sent collegiate-inspired items down the runway, including prep-esque blazers, cute plaid separates, and cool varsity bomber jackets. The easiest way to adopt this trend? Incorporate plaid skirts, tops, and dress, along with leather sleeved bombers into your autumn wardrobe.
While your classic denim jacket will never go out of style, this season it's all about the updated topper that features unique cuts and interesting silhouettes. Balenciaga showcased an oversized, slightly cropped denim look that was layered over simpler tops for an everyday, back to school-friendly approach to the trend. Meanwhile, Gucci showed off its own take on the denim trend, offering a light-wash version with unique graphics and fur sleeves. And if you're feeling extra edgy, take a cue from Marc Jacobs, who showcased dark grey denim jackets that came with everything from chains, patchwork embellishments, and spider webs.
Designers from Valentino to Acne Studios highlighted a romantic, dancer-inspired trend that came with everything from pretty ballet flats to gorgeous dance-inspired items like wrap tops and dresses. Acne Studios even had a few models take the runway wearing nothing more than leggings layered underneath a shimmery bodysuit. If you're feeling this trend for back to school season, incorporate it into your wardrobe with a comfy pair of ballet flats!
Sometimes it's all about the details, as Tibi, Antonio Berardi, and DKNY proved with separates featuring cool and forward buckle details. This season, opt for a warm fall overcoat with a unique belt or cool belted blazer that will have all eyes on you when you step into the office!
