After 9 days of presentations, Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2016-17 came to a close on March 9. Thanks to PFW official sponsor L'Oréal Paris, we've been able to go behind-the-scenes of some of this season's most exciting shows, including that of French fashion designer Vanessa Seward. The looks created by L'Oréal Paris makeup expert Karim Rahman and his team boasted nude complexions with smudgy eyeliner and thick mascara. Let's take a closer look...
Paris Fashion Week: backstage at Vanessa Seward
Like so many other designers, Vanessa was inspire by the 1970s for her Autumn/Winter collection. Of course, there was always an element of Parisian chic to each of the looks paraded down the runway. Luxurious velvet dresses, sparkling gold and black jacquard jackets, and rust colored ensembles were all paired with heavily textured low ponytails.
When it comes to makeup, eyes were the focus of the look: carefully applied and smudged out black eyeliner created a soft smoky eye. To acreate the look, Karim used black kohl eyeliner along the top lash lines, befre dotting the pencil along the bottom lashlines, and then lining the contour of the creaselines. Then, he picked up some nude-toned eyeshadow ona fluffy brush and used it to blend out the harsh lines of the pencil. Finally, the lashes were coated with black mascara and then carefully separated for a vintage look.
The look was completed by unifying the complexion with a matte foundation and concealer, then subtly contouring with the help of a foundation powder 2 tones darker than the models natural skin tone. Finally, the lips were given a slick of nourishment and sheer coverage with balm.
