Femme fatale: a 60s-inspired makeup look from Milan Fashion Week

This look spotted at Milan Fashion Week FW 2014 combined two of our very favorite things, um, ever: a vintage-inspired look and cat eye makeup. Hello, heartbreaker!

A trend to try

There's no doubt the cat eye beauty look is experiencing a serious resurgence. It's seen just about everywhere- from magazine pages to the runway to the streets- but somehow we never tire of the trend.

Our unceasing love for this look probably has a lot to do with the fact that, even though the end result is more or less the same, there are so many amazing techniques and variations to achieve it. You can go ultra-subtle with a thin flick, 60s-French-girl with a bold look like the one above, or update the cat eye by taking a graphic approach. The choice is yours!

Get the look

Step one: Start by masking any blemishes or imperfections with concealer. As this look really plays up the eyes, use a corrector beneath your concealer along the inner corners and below the eye.

Step two: Apply matte foundation using a brush or sponge for the most natural results. Bring a bit of warmth to your look by giving the cheeks a light wash of cool-toned pink blush.

Step three: Keep your eyebrows natural by simply brushing through them and set the hairs in place with clear brow gel. Apply primer on the eye area where you'll apply your liquid liner to create a smooth base for your liquid liner.

Step four: Using a gel liner and brush or felt-tip eyeliner pen, start at the inner corner of the eyes. Create a thin line along the inner corner and then follow the top lashline until you reach the outer corner, finishing with a dramatic cat eye flick. Go over the line again if you want it thicker or if it's not evenly opaque. Then, trace along the bottom lashline until you meet the flick on the other corner. Use a q-tip dipped in eye makeup removed to clean up any lines.

Step five: Give your lips a slick of moisturizing nude lipstick.

You're all done! Now, don't forget to pair your beauty look with a femme fatale attitude!
