With festival season in full swing, party goers across the globe unite in the name of flower crowns, denim cut-offs, fringe, and of course, celebrating incredible musical talent. California's star-studded Coachella music festival kicked off the season in April, where some of our favourite starlets pranced around the sunny, dream-like world wearing their festival bests. Earlier this month, the U.K.'s Bestival made its way to Toronto for its second year in a row, where festival goers came together to celebrate music, costume, and even weddings in the inflatable church if you were really feelin' the love.
And while festivals are often defined by good vibes and sunny days, the Glastonbury Festival had attendees trampling around in fields of mud this past week. The major British festival was held from June 22-26, and included musical performances by Coldplay, Adele, Ellie Goulding, Bastille, Disclosure, and of course, appearances by a few major celebs.
Despite the bad weather, stars like Cara and Poppy Delevigne, Suki Waterhouse, and Rita Ora stuck out the mud in rubber rain boots that have never looked so chic. Glastonbury's casual approach to festival fashion reminds us that looking good at a music festival is more about just having a good time, because who wants to wear an outfit that's so put-together you can't actually dance in it?
FESTIVAL FASHION AT GLASTONBURY: RAIN BOOTS AND MUD
While festival attendees had no choice but to rock a pair of knee-high rain boots to make it through the mud, they managed to make trampling around in dirt look chic and even envy-inducing. Celeb squad Cara Delevigne, Suki Waterhouse, Poppy Delevigne, Ellie Goulding, and Lottie Moss opted for a pair of knee-high black Hunter boots covered in mud, while Alexa Chung and Rita Ora opted for a shorter version of the boots to brave the mud.
Others opted for Converse sneakers, but it's no secret that rain boots reigned as footwear of choice this time around. So, how does one make a pair of muddy rain boots look chic?
Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevigne went for an I-Woke-Up-Like-This effortless appeal, pairing their knee-high Hunters with loose patterned shorts, oversized hoodies and beanie hats for the ultimate cool-girl look. Cara went a step further and intertwined the hanging blue pieces of her hat into her hair for a multi-coloured braided look.
Meanwhile, Rita Ora was spotted wearing her ankle-high rubber boots with fish-net tights, an oversized white T-shirt, and a heavy blue overcoat accessorized with a pair of rose-coloured sunglasses. Alexa Chung stuck to her signature cool-girl vibe, wearing a pair of denim shorts, ankle-high Hunter boots, and a graphic white tee that she layered underneath a hoodie and green jacket.
Poppy Delevigne took a more put-together approach, pairing her knee-high rubber rain boots with fitted black leggings, a star-patterned black and white sweater, and a navy bomber jacket with red accents. She topped her look off with a pair of cat-eye sunglasses that complimented her platinum blonde locks.
