British actress Lily Collins was a vision in violet at the premiere of her latest film Love, Rosie, which took place during the 9th Annual Rome Film Festival on October 19th. The 25-year old actress posed for photographs on the red carpet in an ombré Elie Saab gown that graduated from a deep eggplant shade on the bodice to a striking soft lilac along the hemline.
Her gorgeous dress was perfectly complemented by a violet-tinged beauty look featuring pale lavender eyeshadow and rich berry lipstick. However, it was Lily's sculpted retro hairstyle that really had our hearts fluttering!
Mid-length hair is currently all the rage among the celebrity set, and Lily is just one of many who have gone for this shorter statement style. Her look at the Love, Rosie premiere is proof that losing length doesn't have to mean losing versatility! These sculpted curls can add a real retro flare to any look and they're sure to work for any occasion, so why not try them?
Get the Look
Starting with dry, freshly washed hair, spritz a heat protection spray that also acts as a styling product thoughout your hair.
Next, create a deep side part. Starting on the same side as the part, grab medium sized sections of hair and curl them while holding the curling iron at a horizontal angle.
Once you've removed the hair from the iron, use your finger to reshape it and clip it to the scalp. Repeat until all of your hair has been curled.
Once your hair is cool, remove the clips. Apply a small amount of smoothing spray to tame any flyaways, then use a soft bristle brush to brush through the curls very gently.
Use your fingers to lift the hair along the top of the head and spray generously with hairspray to add extra volume. Then spray the rest of your hair to fix the style in place.
