This year's Golden Globe Awards, which took place on January 11, 2015, proved a veritable treasure trove of beauty inspiration. One of our favorite looks from the big night was this daring purple eyeshadow, as worn by the lovely Nina Dobrev. So, if you're looking for a vibrant new look for 2015, check out the easy tutorial below.
Pretty in purple
Purple eye makeup has been trending for a little while now and it's not the easiest look in the world to wear, so we have to give it to Nina for daring to wear it on the red carpet. Unlike Julianne Moore, who opted for muted mauve and lilac shades for the occasion, Nina chose a vibrant violet which added a splash of color to her black outfit - bravo!
Get the look
First things first, start by recreating Nina's flawless complexion. Smooth BB cream over your nose, forehead and cheeks and blend the product in with a flat brush to create a smooth, seamless finish.
Apply primer to your eyelids - this will help your color to stay in place all night long.
Use a black kohl eyeliner pencil to outline your upper lashline and a plum one to do the same along your bottom lashline. Apply your purple shadow to your eyelids, taking sure not to go any higher than the crease. Then, use a flocked applicator brush to blend the shades together and create a softer finish.
Turn up the volume with a couple of coats of black mascara for a real "look at me" gaze.
Finish with a dusting of blush powder over the apples of your cheeks, and a kiss of candy pink lip gloss. All set!
