Hair Care: 3 ways to keep your hair colour vibrant this summer

by Paige Exell -

There's nothing worse than transitioning from beautiful, freshly dyed hair to dull, faded, and brassy locks. Whether you're highlighting your hair, going red, or adding life to your brunette-coloured strands, aftercare is just as important as your colour choice.

Want to maintain that fresh out of the salon dye job? We've got 3 easy ways to keep your hair colour vibrant this summer!

EASY ON THE SHAMPOO

To maintain your fresh new colour for as long as possible, avoid shampooing your hair too often. Washing up too much can cause your hair colour to transform from platinum blonde to brassy yellow. If you can't avoid daily washing, opt for a sulfate-free cleansing conditioner like L'Oreal's EverPure Cleansing Balm – that will cleanse your scalp without stripping any colour.

AVOID BROWN & GOLD TINTED PRODUCTS

If you have a golden hue or any highlights, beware of oils and serums that are tinted orange or yellow. The results of using products (including shampoos) with brown or gold tints will be brassy, yellow hair. Instead, stick to colourless products and purple-tinted shampoos and conditioners like EverPure Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner.

TAKE COVER

Whether you're a blonde, brunette or a red-head, avoid exposing freshly dyed hair to the sun if you want to preserve your colour. UV light can cause colour to fade or turn an unfortunate shade of orange, so don't forget to wear a hat when you step out into the sun! When sunshine is unavoidable, use a UV shield-like styling product that will keep your beautiful locks protected!
