2016 brought a whole new meaning to long hair, don't care – and the XXL-long hair trend shows no signs of stopping, according to the red carpet and the runways! With Kim Kardashian's Cher-inspired hair leading the charge, stars like Gigi Hadid, Ciara and Beyonce have continued to take their spots on red carpets and runways with waist-grazing lengths.
To give you new hair inspiration for spring 2017, we've rounded up all the Rapunzel-esque styles we're obsessed with on our favourite celebs, and three different ways to wear the trend!
HAIR TREND: EXTRA-LONG LOCKS AND HOW TO WEAR THEM
LONG AND STRAIGHT
Long and straight is the easiest, and most common way to wear the XXL-long hair trend this year, with multiple celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, Lea Michelle, Justine Syke, and L'Oreal Paris museJennifer Lopez spotted wearing the sleek and straight look down to their waists. Meanwhile, supermodels Doutzen Kroes and Irina Shayk wore long and sleek hair for their walks down the Versace runway.
To get this look, simply use a flat iron to straight your hair in three different sections. Remember to apply a heat protective spray onto your hair before applying heat to prevent damage. When you've finished straightening your long locks, apply a hair oil through your locks using your fingers to achieve that sleek, frizz-free finish. Complete the look with a shine finish hairspray. Don't have long locks? Get your hands on a pair of long hair extensions to clip onto your head!
LONG AND WET
The wet hair trend was one of the most prominent looks on the red carpet last year, and luckily for us, it shows no signs of slowing down in 2017. Khloe Kardashian was recently spotted on Instagram wearing her hair long and damp. Her dark root and lighter ends complemented her warm makeup and bronzed skin perfectly!
To get this look, apply mousse into damp hair by scrunching it into your locks using your fingers. Let your hair dry, and you will be left with a textured, wet appearance. If you'd like more texture, use a curling iron to freshen up your curls. To add a more 'wet' effect, apply hair oil from root to tip into your hair, then finish off with a shine finish hairspray.
Queen Bey was also recently spotted wearing the XXL hair trend, but in a more unique way. The singer tied her hair up into a high ponytail on top of her head, then braided smaller strands within the ponytail. She then wrapped the smaller braids around the base of her ponytail, and proceeded to braid the hair within the ponytail all the way to her ends. Meanwhile, Ariana Grande adopted a similar look, weaving small braids into her hair from root to tip, then placing her long hair up into her signature ponytail.
