Hair Trends: 5 Hair Trends to Watch out for in 2017

by Paige Exell -

In excellent news for over-sleepers everywhere, 2017 is poised to be the year of natural-looking hair. Fashion and style trends are all over the place right now, meaning there are many different prints and colours seen on the runways and red carpets. 2017's hair style trends will balance that out by being more subdued, natural and softer in both texture and colour.

We predict plenty of dark (aka easy to maintain) shades of brown, and rooty blonde hues that are inherently low-maintenance. Here, plenty of inspiration for the hair appointment you'll want to book in the New Year.

5 HAIR TRENDS TO WATCH OUT FOR IN 2017

BRONDE

Grown-in hair colour will be a big trend in 2017. It's a super low-maintenance look that combines blonde and brown for a darker blonde colour and light brown colour that looks great on just about anyone. It's a blonde that maintains depth, dimension, and contrast, and has ends that gradually get lighter towards the bottom. Celebs like Cara Delevigne have been known to rock the colour trend and more recently, Gigi Hadid swapped her beach-y blonde locks for a darker shade that falls into the "bronde" category.

ULTRA-DARK BROWN

Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid who rock an ultra-dark brown hair colour are giving even the most devoted blonde a reason to go dark in 2017. The chocolate brunette is going to have a major moment in 2017. The dark, dark brown shade brings a lot of shine to the hair that most can't resist!

LONG HAIR, BLUNT BANGS

Celebrities like Jessica Biel and Selena Gomez have been rocking the long shaggy hairstyle paired with blunt bangs as of late, which is going to be a major trend in the New Year. This style is all about the texture – it should have a natural quality to it that can be achieved with a little bit of product and some scrunching!

FULL CURLS

Tons of celebrities chose to go natural in 2016, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Celebs like Alicia Keys and Kerry Washington favoured a slightly brushed-out look that gives gorgeous volume. Celebs like Blake Lively , who don't have natural full curls, even opted for the '80s-inspired look.

MESSY MEDIUM-LENGTH

Shorter loose or natural waves will make their mark in 2017. This super chic and fresh look has been spotted on A-listers like Jennifer Lawrence and Zendaya who give their medium styles a bit of texture. This look is great because it doesn't require a whole lot of effort if your hair is wavy when you roll out of bed!
