American Horror Story actress Emma Roberts attended the Valentino Sala Bianca 945 event yesterday, December 10, in New York City. The 23-year-old wore a hot pink Valentino mini dress with flared skirt, bell sleeves, and a leather floral collar, which she complemented with 1960s-inspired hair and makeup. Altogether, the look was a psychedelic success!
We especially loved Emma's Twiggy-esque hairstyle. Though the iconic look was originally created for short hair, Emma proves it can work just as well for long-haired gals. With the right tools and a little know-how, you can sport this very retro look in no time!
Steal the style
Wash and condition your hair with a smoothing shampoo + conditioner that will add a healthy dose of moisture.
Once the hair is towel-dried, spritz a heat protection/straight styling spray throughout your locks. Comb through your hair with a fine tooth comb to remove any tangles, and then either leave your hair to air dry (avoiding heat styling when you can is always the best option) or blow dry it.
Use a flat iron to smooth your hair, working in small sections to ensure the hair is evenly straight and you only have to go over each section once. When you're done, work a few drops of nourishing hair oil between your palms and smooth them through the hair.
Create a deep side part and smooth the hair back into a low bun with a brush. Secure the bun.
Finish the look by spraying your palms with hairspray and then smoothing them over your style to reduce flyaways. Take the small wisps of hair at your ears and tuck them behind, then spray the area with hairspray one last time.
