After popping up time and time again in editorial spreads and backstage at Fashion Week, baby hair is officially a red carpet trend! FKA Twigs, Katy Perry, and Rihanna have all taken turns turning heads with this unconventional look and now actress Zoe Kravitz has given it her spin, appearing on the Allegiant red carpet with a braided top knot and wavy baby hairs.
Borrowed from African-American culture, baby hair became a global fashion trend in the 90s and has now hit the hairstyle scene once again. Perfectly styled with a "wet effect", this easy to achieve and fashionable hairstyle will lend your look an urban edge. Want to try the trend? Keep reading...
Get the Look
To get the look, secure your hair into a high topknot like Zoe's or a high ponytail as seen here on Rihanna. Apply a pea-sized amount of gel to the pad of your index finger and then touch your finger to your thumb.
Grab at your baby hairs (the small wisps of hair along the hairline) and run them through your fingers to thoroughly coat them with gel. Use your fingers to shape the hairs into waves that frame the face, moving down toward the ears.
Once you've done that, you're all set! This hairstyle can be paired with a matching wet look, but we particularly love the contrast between the elaborately styled baby hairs and a tousled topknot, bun or ponytail!
