Lea Michele arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of Legends of OZ: Dorothy's Return on May 3, 2014

Hairstyle tutorial: Lea Michele's quiff ponytail

This weekend Lea Michele attended the Los Angeles premiere of Legends of OZ: Dorothy's Return. In the animated film, Lea voices the main character Dorothy Gale, first brought to life in 1939 by actress Judy Garland... some pretty big shoes to fill, if you ask us! Of course we have no doubt in our minds that Lea exceeded expectations and played the role with style and grace!

May 3 marked the premiere of Legends of Oz, and Lea hit the red carpet looking exactly as we'd expect from a L'Oréal Paris ambassador: gorgeous! The singer/actress wore a floor-length halterneck gown with deep v-neck and polka dot motif. The LWD (Little White Dress) is all the rage this season, so Lea was right on-trend with her choice! She kept her beauty look natural and bronzed.

Though perhaps the simplest feature of her look, Lea's quiffed ponytail was our favorite. We love the high volume, and the rolled sections at the back were a special little detail that didn't go unnoticed. This look is perfect for just about any event- from a run to the farmer's market to a special dinner.

Ready to get the look?

Step one: Starting with wet hair, massage volume-boosting mousse into your roots. As you blow-dry your hair, use a brush to push the hair upwards at the root, creating more volume.

Step two: Gently backcomb sections of hair at the top of your head to create Lea's quiff, then use a boar bristle brush to smooth the hair back.

Step three: On each side, bring the hair to the back of your head and twist it in toward the scalp, creating the rolled sections. As you roll, use bobby pins to keep the hair in place.

Step four: Once you've got two rolled sections, secure all of the hair into a ponytail. Then, take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the base to conceal your hair tie.

Step five: Spray your hair all over with strong-hold hairspray and you're all set!
