Earlier this month we spotted Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev with a chic low bun we couldn't wait to copy. The best part? It only takes 10 minutes or so to achieve!
The hairstyle diaries
If you're a regular Get the Look reader, you probably already know we're huge fans of Nina Dobrev. The 25-year old actress is always willing to try out a new look on the red carpet and we admire her sense of adventure. Whether she's sporting voluminous, bouncy curls or a romantic braided updo, Nina always pulls it off spectacularly.
We spotted Nina at The Art of Elysium's 7th Annual Heaven Gala with a classic low bun hairstyle we just had to try. The low bun is one of those simple styles that looks both put together and elegant with minimal effort. If you've got a big event or evening out coming up, this is the look to try!
Get the Look
Step one: Once your hair is dried (either by blow dryer or by air), distribute a few pumps of smoothing serum throughout. This will replenish a bit of moisture back into the air and smooth out any frizz.
Step two: Use a tail comb to separate the front/bang section of your hair and use a clip to keep it in place. Use your hands to gather the hair back into a low ponytail and secure it with a hair tie.
Step three: Use your fingers to pull small sections of hair just in front of your ears out of the ponytail.
Step four: Take a large hair elastic and pull it over the one you used to secure your ponytail, but don't twist it. Instead, grab 1/3 of the ponytail and wrap it up around the elastic, back through, and continue wrapping. Once you've reached the end, grab a new section of hair and repeat the proicess.
Step five: Use bobby pins to secure any loose ends of hair. Then, move to the front section that you secured at the beginning. Use a curling iron to create loose curls.
Step six: Spray all over with hairspray and you're all set!
