Are you looking for a hint of hair-inspiration for the spring season? Well look no further than the gorgeous Canadian actress Shay Mitchell who - surprise, surprise - has once again wowed us with her red carpet beauty look!
The Pretty Little Liars star stepped out for the premiere of her new film Mother's Day on April 13 in a plunging Temperley London gown with a matte nude makeup look to match; adding her usual touch of red carpet glamour wth a coat of lipgloss and XXL lashes. The 29-year-old star then topped off the ensemble with a totally spring-tastic voluminous braid: the perfect Boho-chic hairstyle to complement your braided crown or festival outfit! Follow our simple tutorial below to master this textured braid...
Bring on the braid
First things first, you need to create some thickness and volume in your locks. Wash your hair with a strand-thickening shampoo and conditioner range, such as the L'Oréal Paris Fibralogy collection.
Next, spritz a heat protection spray throughout your lengths before blow-drying with your head upside down. This will add even more volume to your roots to give your braid that extra va-va-voom!
To add even more texture and body to this look, apply a mist of root-uplifting spray to the roots of your hair, lifting up individual sections to apply the spray to the base of your strands. If you don't have one of these mystical volume-enhancers to hand - don't panic! Instead, massage a palm-sized amount of volumizing mousse into the roots of your hair and tease your locks with your fingers.
Flip your part to the side to create Shay's side-swept bangs. Keep your bangs loose and tousled to add a romantic edge to this springtime look.
Draw the rest of your hair back loosely to the top of your neck and create a simple braid. Tie the braid off with a hair elastic, before adding a spritz of sea-salt texturizng spray to the plait. Use your fingers to tease the braid for extra volume, then finish your look with a fixitive spritz of hairspray. Perfect!
